Profile
Is an Architect, Designer and Architectural Researcher. Her PhD thesis from Nottingham/UK, which involved interdisciplinary research, was entitled The Hidden Face of Erbil: Change and Persistence in the Urban Core. She investigated the origin and evolution of the built environment of Erbil city, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, concentrating particularly on the duality of change and persistence in the urban core through the centuries.
Farah earned both her BSc and MSc degrees in Architectural Engineering Design from Baghdad/Iraq. Farah's M.Sc. thesis was entitled 'The Effect of Addition on the Place: An analytical study of the dedication of "Event" in creating the "Addition" which influences the Place' and the Graduation project was entitled The Iraqi Geological Survey.

Her research, scholarly and professional interests are in the old urban fabric (Southwest Asia, North Africa and Arabian Peninsula as well as European cities), urban and architectural space and design, persistent elements in the old urban fabric, conservation and revitalisation strategies and sustainable development, the impact of different factors on the change of the old urban fabric, the impact of new additions on the place, particularity and the identity of cities and the soul of the place.

Farah has four years experience teaching in the universities.
She worked as a lecturer in the school of architecture in the UK and Kurdistan/Iraq.
Farah is currently a freelance architect in the UK. Before that she was managing Partner and Co-Founder at Horizon Bureau, Iraq for architecture, construction, and investments. During that time she worked on Developing design concepts for buildings & preparing and presenting design proposals.
Designed more than 40 houses, villas and residential projects, several commercial multi-story buildings, several public and private projects including a hospital, hotels, motels, restaurants, health and sport centre, schools, racing circuit, kindergarten, petrol station, mini markets, shopping centres, stages, car show, multi-purpose Hall, gates, research centre of Babel University campus, model making for a residential complex in Duhok city, and other projects.
